9 Boy Bands Rocking Beatles Hair

Boy bands have been making girls scream since the '60s, when groups like the Beatles filled radio waves with catchy lyrics and poppy melodies — oh, and they had really great hair

The Beatle haircut, coined the "moptop," was one of the many factors of Beatlemania that first took place after the group debuted 50 years ago on The Ed Sullivan Show. The shaggy, unkempt bowl cut was widely popular, and even inspired toy companies to manufacture licensed Beatles wigs.

Many boy bands, even today, have in one way or another been inspired by the Beatles, from music technique to fashion. Some have even created their own spin on the iconic 'do. (Looking at you, Harry Styles.) Read more...

Powerful Music Video Photoshops Singer in Real Time

The debate over Photoshopped celebrities has grown increasingly volatile in the last couple of years. Recently, many brands like Aerie have moved toward more "normal looking" models and imagery in their advertising. Still, the ultra-thin woman with perfect hair and makeup remains a staple of beauty in the media today.

Hungarian pop singer Boggie decided to make a statement on the issue by focusing her music video for her latest single, "Parfüm," on digitally altering her appearance in Photoshop

Her transformation is powerful and dramatic, going from a plain, naked face to a glamorous vixen in barley three and a half minutes. The catchy song and Boggie's sultry voice offer an added bonus to the fascinating imagery. Read more...

Aerie Lingerie Ads Ditch Photoshop for the 'Real You'

Lingerie clothing brand Aerie joins a slew of other companies who are ditching Photoshop and size-zero models for a more positive body image

Aerie, the sister clothing company to American Eagle Outfitters, launched the "Real" Spring 2014 campaign which uses completely un-airbrushed models in their ads. The images, photographed by John Urbano, portray girls lounging in their underwear, with the copy, "The girl in this photo has not been retouched. The real you is sexy."

The ads don't shy away from healthier body types, portraying curves and skin folds not common in glossy lingerie images. The ads are "challenging supermodel standards," the company said in a press release Friday Read more...

Adobe Adds 3D Printing Tools to Photoshop

Adobe is adding new tools to Photoshop that let users create and edit designs for 3D printing

Before 3D printers crank out objects, a user needs digital model — either one they create or download from the Internet. One you've got one, though, you'll need software that supports 3D imagery if you want to edit it. As of today, Photoshop users can design, edit and customize those 3D models similar to how you might adjust a 2D picture within the app.

The move is part of an effort from the company to bring 3D printing to the mainstream Read more...

This Cube Can Capture Any Color

Now the ability to “paint with all the colors of the wind” doesn’t solely belong to Disney's Pocahontas.

Developed by three university friends, The SwatchMate Cube aims to expand the color palettes of designers and artists with the colors around them.

Utilizing an inner sphere with a light source and a color sensor, the Cube functions as a swatch grabber, recording the color of virtually any object placed underneath it. The Cube then sends the swatch via Bluetooth Low Energy directly to any smartphone into Photoshop; or if the Cube cannot connect to any device, it will store up to a maximum of 20 swatches locally. Design App Creates Beautiful Photo Collages on Your Phone

Photoshopping yourself into Justin Bieber's arms just got easier to do from your phone.

Tel Aviv-based Bazaart, previously a Pinterest app for creating fashion spreads, relaunched on iOS Wednesday as a social design app. The app lets you layer photos to make collages as well as cut the background out of photos, either manually or with the app's automatic tool, which is based on complex algorithms and works surprisingly well

"People have too many photos," founder Gili Golander says. "[Bazaart offers] the ability to join them together and create something that is more than the sum of the photos in it." Read more...

Parody Photoshop Ads Expose Unattainable Beauty Standards

Beauty advertisements often market products to women that they claim will result in poreless, even-toned and wrinkle-free skin we've seen all our lives on the pages of magazines

But when it comes down to it, there's only one product on the market that will get us to advertisement-level "perfection." And, unfortunately, it doesn't come in a tube.

A new series from North Carolina-based photographer Anna Hill imagines parody advertisments for Adobe Photoshop, the only "beauty product" through which women can achieve otherwise unattainable standards of beauty. Read more...

Oh, White House. Haven't you learned that any and all images on Twitter can and will be Photoshopped to use against you?

The President and his social media team learned the Internet's version of Miranda rights the hard way Thursday, when they tweeted an image of Obama holding a sign prompting people to sign up for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act.

Even Scarlett Johansson can fall down — crazy, we know. The actress took quite the tumble while walking down the street (darn those stiletto boots), and, of course, someone caught it on film

Surprisingly though, it turns out ScarJo looks just as goofy as the rest of the world when nose diving into the pavement.
