Soup.io will be discontinued :(

Dear soup.io fans and users,
today, we have to share very sad news. Soup.io will stop working in less than 10 days. :(
It's breaking our heart and we honestly tried whatever we could to keep the platform up and running. But the high costs and low revenue streams made it impossible to continue with it. We invested a lot of personal time and money to operate the platform, but when it's over, it's over.
We are really sorry. Soup.io is part of the internet history and online for one and a half decades.
Here are the hard facts:
- In 10 days the platform will stop working.
- Backup your data in this time
- We will not keep backups nor can we recover your data
July, 20th, 2020 is the due date.
Please, share your thoughts and feelings here.
Your Soup.io TEAM

NightBus' Interactive Music Video Introduces 3-Way Stereo Experience

After creating an innovative interactive music video for Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone" that mimicked TV channel surfing, digital agency Interlude is back with a slick type of interactivity for new band NightBus' "When The Night Time Comes" video.

The video, shared first with Mashable, let's you control what you hear and what you view onscreen. You can choose how loud you want to listen to or see each of the band's two singers — Hannah Melbourn and Jack Kennedy — by moving a sliding button left and right. NightBus recorded three arrangements to accomplish the "three-way stereo experience." Read more...

Billy Ray Cyrus Re-Releases 'Achy Breaky Heart' as Hip-Hop Jam

Like daughter, like father?

For once, it's Miley Cyrus' dad Billy Ray Cyrus who's turning heads with a questionable move, transforming his 1992 country classic "Achy Breaky Heart" into a hip-hop jam

The remixed song, "Achy Breaky 2," is from rapper Buck 22 — the son of R&B singer Dionne Warwick — and Billy Ray Cyrus is its featured artist. And we wouldn't be surprised if Miley directed the video, because there's twerking. A whole lotta twerking

The video is also set on a space ship, à la Miley's nude, alien-infused "Real and True" music video. Additionally, news anchor Larry King makes an appearance, because why not? Read more...

One Direction Flirts With Grannies in 'Midnight Memories' Video

The One Direction boys have returned with a new video for their single "Midnight Memories," the title track from their most recent album.

Fans have been counting down the days for the premiere and set their sights on crashing the video's host channel, VEVO, in display of their overwhelming affection — or at least break the channel's viewing record. Again

The former goal is definitely on point with the video's devil-may-care attitude. It opens with the boys getting uncharacteristically rebuffed by boring house party guests who couldn't care less that the world's biggest boy band is hanging out in their kitchen. Read more...

Shazam Premieres Its First Music Video: Chromeo's 'Come Alive'

Chromeo wants to "bring the funk straight to your phone." The electrofunk duo are debuting their "Come Alive" music video Wednesday on music-identification app Shazam.

Shazam users can play the song on the SoundCloud player, below, and then use Shazam to find the music video, as the app recognizes the audio, featuring Chromeo's Dave 1 and P-Thugg. The exclusive debut bypasses MTV, Vevo and YouTube, where music videos often premiere, although the "Come Alive" will eventually be available at those traditional locations, too

"New technology is an intrinsic part of our identity, as a band," Dave 1 told Mashable. "We gained notoriety through music blogs and now live on music-streaming platforms. Now who doesn't use Shazam every day? It's a honor for us to be the first act to premiere a music video using their service.” Read more...

Miley Cyrus Goes Under the Bedsheets in Steamy 'Adore You' Video

Headline magnet Miley Cyrus released an intimate music video for "Adore You" on Thursday as planned, though many people had already watched it before its official premiere because someone leaked the video online a day early on Christmas

Cyrus, who writhes amid bedsheets in her underwear in the new video, addressed the leak on Twitter. In the tweet, the 21-year-old pop star references a record she holds: Vevo's record for most views in an initial 24-hour time span. She accomplished that feat in September with her viral "Wrecking Ball" video, which accumulated 19.3 million views in just one day Read more...

John Mayer and Katy Perry Look Silly on Fake Bull in New Music Video

Lovebirds John Mayer and Katy Perry throw real-life couples onto a mechanical bull and into their new "Who You Love" music video.

The duo takes a ride on the fake bull, too, looking quite ridiculous in the process:

John Mayer Katy Perry Video.jpg

"Holding on for dear life!" Perry told her 60 million Facebook fans Tuesday

To help build buzz for the video, Perry and Mayer on Tuesday's Good Morning America discussed their relationship and their decision to make this song and video.

“The very first thought was you can’t do that ... then the more I thought about just the music part of it, it made perfect sense, even if I didn’t know Katy, it would have made perfect sense," he said. "I went in the other room, called her phone. ... It's a pretty big moving target to be a couple and have a song, but I think there's an authenticity to it when you hear it.” Read more...

Britney Spears' 'Perfume' Leaves a Strong Scent of Product Placement

Britney Spears' latest single "Perfume" is basically about a threesome she can't escape. And the music video is basically product placement that the audience can't escape

In the music video, Spears spends time in a motel with her love interest, only to be reminded her guy has another girl he doesn't want to leave. Spears spritzes herself with a bottle of her personal scent, hoping it tips the other girl off to what her boyfriend has been doing.

The product placement though is mostly expected, considering the song's title is "Perfume" and Spears has an extensive line of fragrances. Spears' "Fantasy" collection is currently the third best-selling celebrity perfume, following One Direction's "Our Moment" and Lady Gaga's "Fame." Product placement of the Beats Pill speaker also appeared in two of her previous videos — "Work B**ch" and "Scream and Shout." Read more...

Lorde 'Crashed' Vevo With New Music Video for 'Team'

She may never be a royal, but 17-year-old Lorde apparently has enough power to disrupt Vevo, as her new music video for "Team" temporarily brought down her Vevo channel.

The electro pop singer-songwriter from New Zealand — best known for her breakout viral hit "Royals" — took to Twitter after the video premiered to humorously express her concerns.

i think you're all overloading the video... let it breathe! hehe

— Lorde (@lordemusic) December 3, 2013

omg you crashed vevo!

— Lorde (@lordemusic) December 3, 2013

Though the video doesn't have uncharacteristically high levels of server-crashing views, some people attempting to view it were unable to do so on Vevo on Monday Read more...

Justin Bieber Is All Grown Up in 'All That Matters' Music Video

Take a deep breath Beliebers — Justin has gone shirtless

The 19-year-old pop star's newest music video for "All That Matters" isn't filled with his usual choreographed dance routines. Instead, the Biebs has gone with a mature R&B vibe, getting cozy (read: making out) with a blonde and stripping off his clothes. There's also a strategically placed motorcycle

JustinBibereImage: Tumblr, hanabokhari

The video debuted Monday and has already hit 2.5 million views. But it's far from breaking VEVO's 24-hour record, currently locked down by Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" video for reaching 19.3 million views in just one day Read more...

James Franco, Seth Rogen Hysterically Recreate Kanye's 'Bound 2' Video

Move over Kim KardashianSeth Rogen just schooled you in topless motorcycle riding

Rogen and BFF James Franco apparently got bored on the set of their new film, The Interview, and decided to spice things up by recreating Kanye West's music video for "Bound 2." (Be warned, however: The video uses the explicit language of West's original recording — it's NSFW.)

West's video features a topless Kardashian (West's fiancée) riding shotgun on his bike while driving through luscious fields, across American vistas and by galloping white horses. Basically, it's a Lisa Frank folder come to life. Rogen and Franco didn't skimp on any of the details, brilliantly mimicking not only the video's background but the lustful expressions of West and Kardashian Read more...

Katy Perry's Victorian Dreams Go Up in Flames in 'Unconditionally'

Katy Perry has found an era that suits her perfectly — Victorian

The pop star went retro-chic in a visually stunning music video for power ballad "Unconditionally," the second single from her "Prism" album. There are gowns, snow, pearls, flower petals, an owl, underwater scenes and a bed on fire — so nothing really out of the ordinary for Perry

Yes, unconditional love sometimes feels like being hit by a car... Or being on fire... How does it feel to you?

— Katy Perry (@katyperry) November 20, 2013

The singer recently told MTV that this music video would be a departure from her other videos because it "doesn't have a complete narrative." Read more...
