Billy Ray Cyrus Re-Releases 'Achy Breaky Heart' as Hip-Hop Jam

Like daughter, like father?

For once, it's Miley Cyrus' dad Billy Ray Cyrus who's turning heads with a questionable move, transforming his 1992 country classic "Achy Breaky Heart" into a hip-hop jam

The remixed song, "Achy Breaky 2," is from rapper Buck 22 — the son of R&B singer Dionne Warwick — and Billy Ray Cyrus is its featured artist. And we wouldn't be surprised if Miley directed the video, because there's twerking. A whole lotta twerking

The video is also set on a space ship, à la Miley's nude, alien-infused "Real and True" music video. Additionally, news anchor Larry King makes an appearance, because why not? Read more...

Headline magnets Miley Cyrus and Madonna, donning Western-inspired getups, shared the stage this week for Cyrus' MTV Unplugged taping, which will air Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET

The two performed a mashup of Madonna's "Don't Tell Me" and Cyrus' "We Can't Stop" on Tuesday at Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood. In a video interview (see below), the 21-year-old pop star spoke about Madonna's influence, described their duet as a "hoedown" and discussed their similar philosophies as entertainers

"A lot of what she represented for me is what I try to represent to girls now is not being afraid of sexuality and really being who you want to be and doing what you want to do," Cyrus said. Read more...

See New Year's Eve Through Google Glass in Times Square

Amid the sea of smartphones and handheld cameras capturing the iconic Times Square ball drop on New Year's Eve was at least one pair of Google Glass

Mashable's Associate Entertainment Editor Brian Anthony Hernandez, above, wore Google's wearable technology in New York City to take photos and record videos of the action and festivities surrounding the ball drop during Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve

Here's what Hernandez documented using Google Glass throughout the night:

Phones and cameras flew to the sky for the ball drop and remained up high, for people not making out, as the smoke from fireworks dissipated and confetti landed on the cement Read more...

35 GIFs From 'New Year's Rockin' Eve': Tongues Take Over

2013 was a big year for Miley Cyrus and her tongue, for better or worse, so it seems only fitting that the tongue made several appearances in different variations on the final day of the year during ABC's Dick Clark New Year's Rockin' Eve party.

Viewers witnessed Miley trying to lick Ryan Seacrest, the telecast's host, though cameras failed to capture their New Year's "kiss." Adding flavor to the tongue takeover was cohost Jenny McCarthy, who slid her tongue across a sledgehammer a la Miley's "Wrecking Ball" video. She also wore a large costume of Miley's tongue at one point Read more...

Goodbye, Harlem Shake. Goodbye, Hot Dog Legs. As we wave adios to 2013, we must bid farewell to the memes that brought joy to the Internet this year.

This year's crop of memes originated in news stories, YouTube videos and online communities like Reddit and Tumblr

In 2012, major events like the Summer Olympics and U.S. Presidential election spawned inescapable moments that dominated the web for months. In 2013, less meme-able headlines caused most shareable moments to quickly flash and fade.

Miley Cyrus Goes Under the Bedsheets in Steamy 'Adore You' Video

Headline magnet Miley Cyrus released an intimate music video for "Adore You" on Thursday as planned, though many people had already watched it before its official premiere because someone leaked the video online a day early on Christmas

Cyrus, who writhes amid bedsheets in her underwear in the new video, addressed the leak on Twitter. In the tweet, the 21-year-old pop star references a record she holds: Vevo's record for most views in an initial 24-hour time span. She accomplished that feat in September with her viral "Wrecking Ball" video, which accumulated 19.3 million views in just one day Read more...

Family's Miley Cyrus Video Proves Holiday Cheer Can't Stop

The Bock family took to YouTube to spread their holiday cheer with a parody of Miley Cyrus' hit summer tune We Can't Stop, and it will put your family to shame

There are references to Christmas mainstays like yule logs, figgy pudding and reindeers, but also some slightly more up-to-date concepts.

"Christmas selfie, we can't wait to tweet you" should be the tagline of the modern holidays

The Bock family's video, while adorable, isn't a first. The Holderness family went viral earlier this week with their "Xmas Jammies" holiday newsletter video Read more...

Festive 'Wrecking Ball' Parody Takes a Hammer to Christmas Naysayers

Looking for the gift that keeps on giving this holiday season? Another Miley Cyrus parody, this time with a Christmas twist, has come in like a wrecking ball — it even brought the eggnog and three-flavored popcorn tin.

Comedians Dave and Brian sing the chorus, "I really wanna deck the halls," as Santa swings on a wrecking ball-sized Christmas ornament with a little too much Cyrus-like reckless abandon.

Despite Santa's own poor choices throughout video, the comedians seem to be generally condemning Miley's life choices as they ominously croon, "don't be scandalous/ like Miley Cyrus/ Santa is watching you." It looks like a certain tongue-flicking pop star is getting nothing but coal in her stocking this year. Read more...

Facebook Reveals the Biggest Trends of 2013

Miley Cyrus and the Royal Baby may have been all over Facebook this year, but neither proved to be top conversation driver on the social network.

Pope Francis was the most talked about topic on Facebook worldwide this year, according to new data from the company, which measured the number of posts mentioning a particular person or event, including related hashtags. The word "election," broadly, was the second-most talked about topic followed by the royal baby.

Cyrus came in at No. 7 on the list, one spot behind another viral phenomenon, the Harlem Shake. More somber subjects like the Boston Marathon bombings and the deaths of Margaret Thatcher and Nelson Mandela also ranked among the top 10 on Facebook's list Read more...

Millions of Mourners Take to Social Media to Honor Nelson Mandela

Former South African President Nelson Mandela died on Thursday, leaving behind a heartbroken global community and a legacy that will far outlive any of his mourners

Millions of people took to social media to honor the great political leader. On Twitter, users generated 7.2 million tweets about his death, including a peak of 95,000 tweets per minute, according to a Twitter spokesperson

That total surpasses some busy Twitter moments from this year, but doesn't set any Twitter records. For comparison, the Super Bowl in February between the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens generated more than 24 million tweets, including more than 231,000 per minute during the game's power outage Read more...

Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the Egyptian general who played a key role in ousting former President Mohamed Morsi won the reader poll for Time's Person of the Year. To claim the title, he beat out Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, viral star Miley Cyrus, and NSA leaker Edward Snowden.

Let's All Promise to Stop Sticking Our Tongues Out in 2014

If the Internet had a Time-like Person of the Year, 2013 was unarguably the year of Miley Cyrus — or maybe just her tongue.

In what seemed like one fell swoop, Miley came in like a wrecking ball after her VMAs performance, shocking us with crazy outfits and tongue antics.

The pop star is not the first to establish this trademark, though younger generations might not immediately think of Gene Simmons or the iconic Rolling Stones logo. Even lizards were sticking their tongues out before Cyrus. Now everyone is hopping on this fun and cute photo trend. Read more...

Miley Cyrus Wins Back the Internet With Virtual Kitten Performance

Say what you want about Miley Cyrus, but she certainly knows how to get the Internet talking. During the American Music Awards, the singer was joined on stage by a giant, virtual kitten which lip-synced along to her performance of "Wrecking Ball."

Cyrus — who wore a two piece outfit adorned with cat faces — sang as the e-kitten mouthed the words behind her. And when Cyrus got emotional, the cat did, too. The performance wrapped with the kitten winking and sticking out its tongue — a nod to Cyrus' signature tongue wag.

'Wrecking Pug' Is Naughtier (and Cuter) Than Miley

Though Miley Cyrus's "Wrecking Ball" debuted in early September, the Internet has still managed to churn out tributes to her sledgehammer-licking, wall-smashing music video

The latest "Wrecking Ball" homage, which comes from YouTube user Lou D'ambrosio, stars a tiny pug named Bruce Wayne. Titled "Wrecking Pug," the silly clip follows the day-to-day triumphs and challenges of being a pug, from playing fetch to getting punished for peeing behind the couch.

This Cyrus parody takes on a lighter tone than others we've seen this week, including this demonic version of "Wrecking Ball" set in G Major. Read more...

Lily Allen Mocks Miley's Twerking and Robin's Balloons in New Video

British singer Lily Allen pokes fun at Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke, the antics in their music videos and the entertainment industry in her new video for "Hard Out Here."

Lily mocks Miley's twerking from "We Can't Stop" and Robin's large letter balloons from "Blurred Lines," which he used to tell the world about his penis size. Lilly instead uses her balloons to spell out ... well, let's allow the shiny balloons to do the talking:

Lily Allen Hard Out Here

The final two words in her balloon series quickly turned into a Twitter hashtag:

Would be nice if we could get #baggypussy trending for @lilyallen - I think @caitlinmoran could help!
