Even furniture can feel the love on this special day.

Ikea's Singapore ad agency had a little fun for Valentine's Day. According to Campaign Brief Asia, this ad, which is running on social media and on in-store posters, was inspired by the Kama Sutra.

This isn't the first time we see Ikea's furniture in a sexual context. Who can forget Hot Malms, the fake-porn site that the retailer ran last summer that directed users to Ikea beds? Maybe Ikea needs to get out more. Read more...

What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than by being serenaded by American Idol's Ruben Studdard or R&B singer Case?

The two crooners will sing romantic tunes to New Yorkers on Friday if they take part in a Twitter campaign from smart car USA. The brand, which has run similarly cheeky Twitter stunts before, will randomly award fans who tweet the hashtag #smartcrooners at @smartcarusa along with their location — or the location of the person they wish to surprise.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., two smart fortwos will be shepherding Studdard and Case around the city. The two will try to serenade as many fans as possible Read more...

Dating Websites Are Now Courting Couples
Feed-twFeed-fb

Dating websites don't want to pressure their users, but it's time to discuss where this is all going. Don't get them wrong, it's been fun arranging algorithmic matches and occasionally getting lucky. But the average user spends about seven to nine months with a dating website before disappearing, and brands like Match.com and HowAboutWe are looking for more of a commitment.

It's the paradox of the online-dating industry: success and customer retention are pretty much incompatible. The antidote sounds kind of like, well, dating. Use the singles side of the business to attract people, and then pitch the happily paired-off users on a long-term relationship with the website by offering services for couples. Read more...

Chick-fil-A Vows to Serve Chicken Raised Without Antibiotics
Feed-twFeed-fb

Chick-fil-A's famous chicken sandwiches will still be breaded and fried, but soon they won't come with antibiotics.

On Tuesday, Chick-fil-A, the privately held food chain based in Atlanta, announced that it intends to serve chicken "raised without antibiotics" at all its restaurants within five years. It sounds like a clear-cut promise. The history of such vows, though, isn't so simple.

In 2007, Tyson Foods created a campaign to sell chicken that was "raised without antibiotics." Then it turned out Tyson was injecting the chicken eggs with a vaccine that included antibiotics.

Other fast-food chains have announced policies to curb antibiotic use in livestock, most notably McDonald's in 2003, but those polices have included loopholes that allowed livestock producers to continue giving antibiotics to healthy animals. Read more...
