Disney Princess Musical Embraces Girl Power Over True Love

Sorry, Disney princes: Your princesses don't need you anymore.

While Frozen totally upended the standard princess tropes, our girls Cinderella, Belle, Snow White and the like remain stuck in their old ways.

YouTube musical channel AVbyte imagined what might happen if Elsa sang some sense into her fellow princesses, pushing them to realize their own independence. Her girl power anthem tells princesses to denounce their princes in favor of loving themselves

52 Disney Animated Movie Locations Mapped Around the World

Looks like it really is a small world, after all.

Artist Eowyn Smith has compiled several of the magical kingdoms from Disney and Pixar flicks and mapped out their locations around the world.

Smith wrote on her DeviantART page that the map features 46 Disney and 16 Pixar movies. If a film was too vague about their location, Smith relied on the original story or myth on which the movies were based.

Take a look and see what stops you'd make on a Disney-themed trip around the world.

Fairy Tale for Founders: Disney Launches Startup Accelerator Program

There's a whole new Disney World for startup founders.

Walt Disney announced Wednesday that it has partnered with Techstars to launch a startup accelerator program in Los Angeles that will provide early-stage startups with access to notable mentors and resources from the media conglomerate

"It is the first time Disney has partnered with an accelerator program and we're focused on taking high-quality teams of startups in the entertainment and media spaces," a rep for Techstars told Mashable

Disney Accelerator, as the program is called, will accept 10 startups, provide each with a seed investment of $120,000 and offer "mentor support" from Disney's CEO and other executives from the company and the industry at large. Perhaps best of all, Disney says those accepted will get "access to stories, characters, technology and other resources from across The Walt Disney Company." Read more...

14 Ways Jennifer Lawrence Is a Disney Princess

Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most idolized celebrities in Hollywood. She's beautiful, she's talented, and her adorably zany antics on the red carpet just make the Internet fall in love with her even more.

Her perfection is only matched by the likes of Princess Ariel, Princess Aurora, or Snow White. No matter what J-Law does, she does it like a whimsical Disney princess.

But the comparison goes a lot deeper than that. When she tripped over her Dior gown at the 2013 Academy Awards, it became very clear that perhaps Ms. Lawrence is not the America's Sweetheart we knew, but actual, real, live Disney royalty. Read more...

9 Eerie Similarities Between Disney Movies and the Opening Ceremony

Bippity boppity boo-yah, the opening ceremony looked familiar

The kickoff to the Winter Olympics on Friday included the type of artistry and magic that would make Walt Disney proud. Fireworks cascaded over Sochi and a Prince Charming lookalike danced to Swan Lake. The whole thing looked eerily similar to a few of our favorite Disney movies

Although Mickey Mouse would never put on a show without checking the lights first

Club Penguin Pushes for an End to Cyberbullying

When you consider the biggest social networks on the web, Disney's Club Penguin platform, aimed for kids ages 6 to 12, might not be the first to come to mind. Or even make your top five

But Club Penguin is overwhelmingly popular among elementary school students and serves as the training wheels for the social networks they will migrate to in the future, such as Facebook and Twitter. The site announced a new initiative called "It Starts With You!" on Thursday, to educate and empower kids on standing up to bullies and speaking up when something is wrong — not just online, but in real life.

'Frozen' Parody Asks 'Do You Want to Be My Boyfriend?'

Sorry Olaf, but it's almost Valentine's Day and the funny folks at Barkada are on the hunt for something to keep them a little warmer than a snowman.

The comedy group took a somber song from Disney's Frozen and translated it for all the #foreveralone ladies out there just looking for Mr. Right.

Unfortunately, the parody ends as disappointingly as the original with the singer left all by her "selfie" while we're left to wonder what superpowers a girl needs to get a date around here.

At any rate, we think Anna would approve.

Mr. Freeze Covers 'Let It Go' From Disney's 'Frozen'

Arnold Schwarzenegger is not a Disney princess.

YouTube movie reviewers 2chinsTV prove that the former Governator should never join the likes of Ariel and Belle. Their cover of Frozen's "Let It Go" takes on Schwarzenegger's unmistakable accent, combined with lines inspired by his role as the 1997 Batman character, Mr. Freeze.

Idina Menzel stole hearts as the troubled elder princess, Elsa, with her powerful pipes belting out the hit movie's signature song. But Schwarzenegger can't quite capture that same spirit, despite his icy (frozen, if you will) appearance Read more...
