Doo-Wop Ke$ha Cover Sends 'Timber' Back in Time

Ke$ha and Pitbull's smash hit "Timber" topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for three weeks in January. But what would the song sound like if it hit the charts in the 1950s instead of today? Probably a lot like this doo-wop inspired cover by The Modern Jukebox.

The cover features the Tee-Tones' soothing backing vocals and expertly transforms the pop anthem of early 2014 into a doo-wop anthem of the 1950s. It's surprising how well the song's melody lends itself to this kind of vintage cover. When this new style is juxtaposed with the lyrics, it creates an interesting contrast of vintage and modern that pleases the ears. Read more...

Duo Adds Bluegrass Flair to Backstreet Boys Cover

If you ever wished for a Backstreet Boys cover with just a little more banjo, this YouTube duo's cover will delight you.

The pair, members of a folk rock-Americana-bluegrass group called The Other Favorites, faithfully covered Backstreet's 1999 mega-hit "Larger Than Life," but in their own signature style. The pair reduced the song to its bare bones and rebuilt it, keeping the melody but eschewing the boy band flash.

Though the pop hit doesn't lend itself easily to a bluegrass style, the group takes the song's melody and runs with it. The result is a bluegrass style cover that sounds not only real and authentic, but soothing and purposeful. The style gives the song an earnest feel not found in the original Backstreet version. 16-Year-Old's Elvis Cover Will Have You All Shook Up

Conspiracy theorists still grapple with the cosmic mystery of whether or not Elvis is still alive, but this Christmas season, it doesn't matter. There's a new Elvis in town, and his name is David Thibault, a 16-year-old French Canadian with slicked back hair and a voice as smooth as blue suede.

Thibault sang an entrancing rendition of "Blue Christmas" on Quebec radio station CKOI that had the host squealing like — well, like a teenager at an Elvis concert.

Whether you're a 13-year-old girl or a 40-year-old man, you'll be squealing too when you hear that iconic voice coming from a baby-faced Canadian teenager Read more...

12 Unusual Instrumental Disney Covers

Anyone can record a cover of themselves singing a Disney classic, but it takes someone special to cover a Lion King favorite on the Ocarina.

From a (kind-of) jug band tackling "Under the Sea" to a powerful drum-solo take on "I'll Make a Man Out of You," these are not the Disney favorites you remember.

But they might inspire you to dust off your old tuba and give the world the cover of "This Is Halloween" its been waiting for.

One Woman's Spot-On Musical Impressions of 19 Famous Divas

Spot-on impressions are hard to come by, but off-Broadway actress Christina Bianco is a total pro

In the cover, she sings in the style of 19 world-famous divas — including Adele, Cher, Christina Aguilera and Shakira — showcasing her supreme talent for pinpointing a singer's trademark sound, then mimicking it perfectly.

Bianco's impressions helped her build a name in the off-Broadway scene, landing her roles in Newsical the Musical and Forbidden Broadway: Goes to Rehab Read more...

Princess Leia Plays Violin in Galactic 'Star Wars' Medley

May the forte be with you. Following the success of their Skyrim and Game of Thrones covers, a cappella singer Peter Hollens and violinist Lindsey Stirling collaborated one more time, exploring a galaxy far, far away.

"Lindsey and I decided to do this because we both have been a huge fan of the Star Wars series for a long time now, and we also wanted to make a very different spin, as our last two collaborations have been so serious with Skyrim and Game of Thrones, so we really wanted to have fun on this one," Hollens wrote to Mashable
