Lady Gaga Releases 'ARTPOP' Album Companion App

"ARTPOP" by Lady Gaga “could mean anything,” as sung in the title track on the album. With the release of Lady Gaga’s third studio album “ARTPOP,” Gaga and her TechHaus team have built an intriguing companion app. The main question is whether the ARTPOP app is more than a gimmicky way to boost album sales.

The "ARTPOP" app is centralized around the idea of “the auras,” which is the community of users within the app. Named after “Aura,” the first track on the album, each user has a personal profile that they develop while using the app. Think of it as an overall presence of your activity, accessed by tapping on the glowing orb at the bottom of the main menu, which will reveal your activity scattered across the screen. Alanis Morissette Developing Broadway Musical

Alanis Morissette is working on a Broadway musical for her 1995 album "Jagged Little Pill."

The musical will feature every song from the album — including "You Outta Know," "Ironic" and "Hand in My Pocket" — which won Best Album of the Year at the 1995 Grammy Awards.

“Tony and Pulitzer winner Tom Kitt, who worked on Green Day’s American Idiot musical, will provide orchestration and arrangements for the musical, also called Jagged Little Pill,” according to Rolling Stone.

"I look forward to taking the heart of Jagged Little Pill and expanding its story, fleshing it out into ever deeper layers of emotionality, specificity, humanity, power, physicality, spirit and fabulism," Morissette said in a news release. Read more...

SoundCloud Transforms Instagram Photos Into Album Art

Some album covers are as iconic as the songs they hold. Now, SoundCloud is re-imagining them for the digital age.

The online audio platform now allows its users to connect their Instagram accounts to their profiles and use their filtered photos as a new kind of album artwork.

The integration means that users will be able to add photos to both new and existing sounds and playlists. SoundCloud, which reaches more than 250 million people every month, announced the partnership Tuesday
